Let’s talk about the cocktail that’s been on repeat in my kitchen lately: Tequila Banana’s. Creamy, fruity, refreshing, and totally unexpected, this drink hits every summer note. Think pineapple, coconut, fresh lime, and the star of the show — a homemade banana simple syrup that ties it all together.

If you love tropical drinks but want something a little more elevated than your average frozen piña colada, this is the one. It’s rich and silky from the coconut milk, bright from the citrus, and layered with just enough banana sweetness to keep you sipping.

What makes this drink stand out is the balance of creamy, tart, and fruity — with a real homemade touch thanks to the banana syrup. It’s not overly sweet, and the use of reposado tequila (or your favorite aged tequila) adds a smooth, vanilla-oaky depth that plays beautifully with the tropical flavors. It’s complex but approachable, and it tastes like vacation in a glass.

Whether you’re lounging poolside or just dreaming of it, this cocktail brings sunshine energy with every sip.

Servings 1 drink
Ingredients
  • 2 oz reposado tequila
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • ¾ oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz coconut milk
  • ¾ oz banana simple syrup*
Instructions
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, pineapple juice, lime juice, coconut milk, and banana syrup.
  • Add ice and shake until chilled and frothy.
  • Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a pineapple leaf and a lime wheel (or a banana chip for extra flair!).

Ingredient Notes

  • Reposado Tequila – Aged tequila gives this drink depth. If you prefer blanco tequila, it’ll be brighter and more citrusy.
  • Banana syrup – This makes the drink. Don’t skip it! It’s easy and so flavorful.
  • Coconut milk – Adds a lush, creamy texture without overpowering sweetness.
  • Pineapple juice – Brings tropical tang and body.

Tips & Variations

  • Make it frozen – Blend all the ingredients with a cup of ice for a slushy-style treat.
  • Try it as a mocktail – Omit the tequila and add a splash of coconut water and extra lime for a zero-proof version.
  • Batch it – Multiply everything by 4-6 and serve in a pitcher for a crowd.

When to Serve It

This cocktail was made for warm-weather sipping. Serve it at:

  • Summer BBQs or pool parties
  • Tropical-themed nights
  • Brunches with a twist
  • Happy hours when you need a mini escape
Xoxo, cheers!
