Modelo Tequila Sunrise

Travel back in time with this groovy twist on the classic Tequila Sunrise, which starts with a base of tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. My version is far out with Modelo beer and lime juice poured in. You’re not trippin’, this cocktail totally looks like a sunrise. The way to nail those beautifully colorful layers is to pour the red grenadine in last and watch it sink to the bottom. Can you dig it?

Make Your Own

Making your own grenadine at home is actually really easy and produces a fresher, more natural-tasting syrup. The base recipe uses 1 part pomegranate juice and 1 part sugar. Heat the juice in a small saucepan on the stovetop, then whisk in the sugar and stir until it dissolves. At this point, you could let it cool and bottle it up for all your cocktailing needs, but you could also stir in some pomegranate molasses and lemon juice or orange blossom water for some extra oomph.
