If you want to make cocktails at home, it can feel overwhelming (and expensive) to get all the different liquors, bitters, liqueurs, and mixers needed to shake up a good cocktail. But making delicious cocktails at home doesn’t have to require a fully stocked bar.
This roundup features my favorite easy cocktails made with 2-3 (sometimes 4) ingredients because we wouldn’t want your happy hour limited by the pantry. I love to riff on classics so some of these are seasonal twists, but you can easily simplify them to make the tried-and-true classic. Scroll through, pick your favorites, and get mixing!
1) Vermouth & Soda
Effortlessly elegant and low on alcohol, this Vermouth & Soda Martini Spritz is a refreshing twist on a classic cocktail and is perfect for when you want something light and flavorful.
2 to 4 Ingredients
- Dry vermouth
- Sparkling water
- Optional: orange bitters and olive brine
2) Old Fashioned
The Old Fashioned is the kind of drink that makes you feel like you have your life together. It’s bold, warming, and perfect for slow sipping, whether you’re making it for a cozy night in or stress-free entertaining.
3 Ingredients
- Bourbon
- Simple syrup or flavored syrup of choice (you can make this yourself with sugar and water!)
- Angostura bitters
3) Martini
If elegance, style, and sophistication had a flavor… it would be the martini. Some people make theirs with vodka, but I’m a gin martini girl all day. I also like it dirty every now and then.
2 to 3 Ingredients
- Gin (I prefer Plymouth, but London Dry works)
- Dry vermouth
- Olive brine (for a dirty martini)
*For a classic martini, leave out the olive brine.
4) Moscow Mule
One of the easiest of easy cocktails, the Moscow Mule is also a great cocktail for easing into cocktails or introducing others to the idea.
3 to 4 Ingredients
- Vodka
- Ginger Beer
- Lime juice
- Optional: Apple cider
*For a classic Moscow Mule, leave out the apple cider.
5) Aperol Spritz
The Aperol Spritz is my go-to weeknight cocktail because I always have the ingredients on hand and it’s just too light and refreshing to resist. There are endless ways to riff on the classic.
3 to 4 Ingredients
- Aperol
- Prosecco
- Soda water or sparkling water
- Optional: Cranberry syrup for the holidays (you can make this yourself!)
*For a classic Aperol spritz, leave out the cranberry syrup.
6) Negroni
A classic booze-forward favorite, the Negroni is one of my favorites and so easy to make. Just remember it’s equal parts and you’re ready to mix.
3 Ingredients
- Gin
- Campari
- Sweet Vermouth
7) Gold Rush (Pot of Gold)
The Gold Rush, or Pot of Gold, isn’t just for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. The classic Gold Rush uses bourbon while the Pot of Gold uses Irish Whiskey (edible gold glitter optional!)
3 to 4 Ingredients
- Irish whiskey or bourbon
- Lemon juice
- Honey syrup (you can make this yourself!)
- Optional: Edible gold glitter
8) French 75
I love a bubbly cocktail. I love gin. And I love fresh-squeezed lemon juice. This easy classic cocktail has it all with a touch of sweetness.
4 Ingredients
- Gin
- Lemon juice
- Simple syrup or honey syrup (you can make these yourself!)
- Champagne
9) Sidecar
I just love the smell of cognac, don’t you? When I think of cognac, I immediately think of a sidecar.
3 to 4 Ingredients
- Cognac
- Orange liqueur
- Lemon juice
- Optional: Apple cider
*For a classic Sidecar, leave out the apple cider.
10) White Russian
Here’s another easy cocktail that even the “non-cocktail people” in your life will love. I made an egg nog version for the holidays, but you can simplify the ingredients for a classic.
3 to 4 Ingredients
- Vodka (or vanilla vodka for the holidays)
- Coffee liqueur
- Heavy cream, half and half, or milk (or eggnog for the holidays)
- Optional: Amaretto liqueur
11) Daiquiri
The classic daiquiri is so easy and simply perfect. With only three ingredients, each one really counts so we only want to use the good stuff. Bottoms up!
3 Ingredients
- White rum
- Lime juice
- Simple syrup
12) Whiskey Tonic
This might be the easiest one of the all. All you need is whiskey and tonic and you’re ready for a great night (whatever that means to you).
2 to 3 Ingredients
- Whiskey (or apple whiskey for fall flavors)
- Tonic Water
- Optional: Apple juice for fall flavors and added sweetness
*For a classic Whiskey Tonic, leave out the apple juice and use plain whiskey instead of apple whiskey.
13) Espresso Martini
She’s a classic for a reason. Smooth, sophisticated, and caffeinated — this classic espresso martini hits the spot every time.
4 Ingredients
- Vodka
- Simple syrup
- Coffee Liqueur
- Espresso
