When the peaches are ripe, I’m putting them in everything! I’ve combined peaches with whiskey, and Aperol. I’ve made martinis, old fashioneds, and French 75s. So now it’s time for a Grilled Peach Margarita! Grilled peaches are the perfect fruit to add to a margarita because they add a sweet, juiciness that cuts the lime and make your margarita feel special. Next time you’re at the farmer’s market this summer, grab a bag of peaches and throw them on the grill!

How to Make a Grilled Peach Margarita
- Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high. Brush the cut side of the peach halves with honey and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. Grill cut-side down for 2–3 minutes, or until caramelized with distinct grill marks. Let cool slightly.
- Rim two glasses by running a lime wedge around the edge, then dip into the cinnamon salt mixture. Fill with fresh ice.
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle ½ grilled peach with the agave syrup, lime juice, and basil leaves until the peach is broken down and the basil is fragrant.
- Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and a generous scoop of ice. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds.
- Double strain into the prepared glasses.
- Garnish with a grilled peach slice, a lime wheel, and basil flowers.
Grilled Peach Margarita Ingredients

Tequila
Tequila is one of my favorite spirits ever, and the obvious choice for a margarita. Check out my Tequila Guide for everything you need to know, including which bottles I recommend. Since you’re grilling the peaches, you could amp up the smokiness with mezcal if you want instead.
Cointreau
The classic margarita always includes an orange liqueur of some kind. Triple sec is a type of orange liqueur and Cointreau is by far the most popular brand. I always have my bar cart stocked.
Peaches
You can use any variety of peach you can find that smells and feels perfectly ripe.
Lime Juice
If it’s not fresh, we don’t want it!
Tips for Making the Best Grilled Peach Margarita
- Grill an extra peach or two while the grill is hot. They’re incredible for cocktail garnishes, salads, burrata boards, or even spooned over vanilla ice cream.
- Use really cold ingredients for the best margaritas! The ice will take longer to melt and dilute the cocktail so it’ll stay stronger for longer.
- Make sure your grill is well oiled before adding the peaches to they don’t stick to the grates.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can use this same method on the stovetop over high heat using a normal sauté pan or, even better, a grill pan if you have one.
- Don’t over-grill the peaches. You just want to grill the for a few minutes until you see some grill marks on them. If you grill them too long, they might get too soft and hard to get off the grill.

When to Serve It
- Dinner parties in the late summer time are a great occasion to mix up some Grilled Peach Margaritas.
- Backyard BBQs when the grill is already hot, just pop on a few halved peaches for a few minutes for margaritas, garnishes, salads, or dessert toppings.
- Peaches are in season through September in most places, so celebrate the end of summer with the juiciest, freshest peaches you can get your hands on.
