White Wine Spritz

Your everday spritz usually features a bottle of bubbly like Prosecco. But a white wine spritz takes your favorite bottle of white wine and mixes it with your favorite unflavored soda or sparkling water for a refreshing thirst quencher. The ratios are up to you and are best measure by vibe, not measurements. The wine is also up to you, but I love a dry white here in a 3:2 ratio. It’s the easiest 2-ingredient weeknight cocktail as well as a crowd-pleaser for parties and casual hangs any time of year. Happy sipping!

How to Make a White Wine Spritz

  1. Fill a large wine glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the chilled white wine.
  3. Top with club soda.
  4. Gently stir once or twice.
  5. Garnish with a lemon wheel or fresh herbs if desired and serve it with this Tomato Burrata Plate!

White Wine Spritz Ratios

A good starting point for your white wine spritz is 3 parts white wine + 2 parts soda water. If you want it a little stronger, go with a 2:1 (wine to soda) ratio. If you’re sitting outside on a hot day, a 1:1 ratio is also very traditional.

Tips for Making the Best White Wine Spritz

  • The number one tip for make the best White Wine Spritz is picking a good wine. I like a dry white wine for my spritz, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, or a dry Riesling.
  • Choosing a good, fresh soda or sparkling water is important, too. You want to use it right after it’s been opened so it doesn’t go flat.
  • Top with a fresh garnish. I like a classic lemon or lime wheel, a sprig of mint, or even green grapes to go with the wine!

When to Serve It

A white wine spritz is so classic and simple it can be served for any occasion, any time of year. But these are my favorites:

  • Spring holidays like Mother’s Day (with mom’s favorite bottle of white wine) and Easter are perfect for something simple, light, and crowd-pleasing like this.
  • If you celebrating Valentine’s Day in, get your special someone’s favorite bottle of white, some soda water, and fun garnishes for a romantic and thoughtful white wine spritz bar for two.
  • As the ultimate Easy Cocktail, I love it for a weeknight sip to take the edge of the day off.

Hosting Tips

Freeze citrus slices or edible flowers into ice cubes ahead of time for a really beautiful presentation during parties or brunch hosting.

Here are three of my favorite Spritz glasses:

White Wine Spritz Variations

This is one of the most versatile cocktails out there, so think of this recipe as your starting point. Swap in seasonal fruit, fresh herbs, or your favorite aperitif to make it your own.

Want to spritz things up a bit? Try adding ½–1 oz of one of these before topping with soda water:

  • Dry vermouth for a crisp, herbaceous finish. Or swap the wine for vermouth for a lower ABV Vermouth & Soda
  • Italicus for bright citrus and floral notes
  • Elderflower liqueur for a subtly sweet, floral twist in this Elderflower White Wine Spritz
