Brad, how do I make it?
How to make a Caipirnha
-
Toss your cachaca in the freezer along with your rocks glasses
-
Cut limes and remove pith: Cut 1 lime in half, end to end or pole to pole. Then cut in half again, end to end. That white spine running through the middle of the lime, pole to pole, is called the “pith”. Cut the pith out. Taking 2 quarter wedges, cut each into 3 or 4 more pieces – you’ll have 6 to 8 pieces.
In your shaker
-
Add 6 – 8 lime pieces
-
Add 3 bar spoons or 1 tablespoon of sugar to shaker
-
***If using ice directly from freezer, add a ½ oz of cold water to shaker (BUT NOT ICE)
-
MUDDLE MUDDLE MUDDLE
-
Pour contents of shaker into your chilled double rocks glass
-
Add 2 oz of cold cachaca to your shaker and swirl it around to pick up remaining sugar and lime flavor and bits
-
Pour into your glass
-
Add ice and stir topping off with more ice. Garnish with a sugar cane stick or lime.

Little history lesson
Cachaca: Origin – unknown. Consensus in academic communities say invented in the interior of Sa Paoulo, Brazil around 1918
Some say it was Alentejo, Portugal with popular recipe made from aguardiente de cana, lemon, garlic, and honey – medicine for Spanish flu
Another account says it’s based on Poncha (aguardiente de cana, honey, sugar, and orange juice or lemon, sometimes other her juices) from Madeira Portugal to cure common cold – main ingredient being Aguardiente de cana.
Aguardiente de cana is a spirit distilled from Sugar Cane and was largely produced on the island of Madeira) This is the ancestor to Cachaca. Cachaca is almost 500 years old, older than Rum.
What’s our tip?
Tip: Hangover Remedies
Step 1: drink water with every drink, that’s hopeful thinking I know
Step 2: drink an electrolyte package right before bed, chug up
Step 3: take a Drinking Buddy, which Brad we have a code now. First, I want to start by saying we’ve been talking with the founders of Drinking Buddy, really amazing brand and husband and wife team. We each tried their product, and our friends, and found it works for the most part to help our hangovers. So essentially you’ll take these two vitamin style capsules with your LAST DRINK or right before bed and it will help your body metabolize the alcohol overnight. Now, this isn’t a cure all but it sure does help. You can use our code: ARTOFDRINKING over on their website: drinkingbuddy.com
Now, step 4: morning of – obviously more water and electrolyte packages but I actually have a little tonic that helps which is:
Fill a glass with ice, add in Fresh citrus juice, preferred is grapefruit about 2 oz, generous dashes of aromatic bitters, topped with tonic water
