Ep. 23 The Singapore Sling and interview with Liba Spirits Co-founder, Devon Trevathan!

Welcome to the episode 23 of The Art of Drinking with Join Jules and Your Favorite Uncle with special guest Devon Trevathan

What are we drinking?

This episode features our very first interview, ever! We talk to Devon Trevathan, co-founder of Liba Spirits, a nomadic spirits company that combines distilling and travel - seriously, this is cool. She is also a talented Sr. Writer for Artisan Spirit Magazine, a magazine for craft distillers and their fans. Of course we talk about the Singapore Sling and get into its history, but also topics such as distilling rum, vodka, and gin, the story behind Liba’s 1643 Alpine Gin (which is amazing BTW), what to order in a dive bar, and many more topics. It’s a fun conversation with a wise industry professional who is all about better drinkin’. You’ll want to check this episode out, check Devon out, and check out Liba Spirits! See below for more information on all of that.

Time for our special guest

Meet Devon:

Devon Trevathan is the co-founder of Liba Spirits. Devon’s journey to this position has been…less linear. She studied psychology and criminology at the University of Central Florida, where she developed absolutely no school spirit, and then moved immediately to Taipei, Taiwan after graduation. When she returned to the states, she visited Nashville and decided to move there “for the time being.” Eventually, she was recommended for a job at Corsair Distillery, one that would truly change her life. She was fortunate enough to land the gig, even though she didn’t know a thing about alcohol at the time (in her defense, she was only 22). After a period of studious drinking, Devon developed an appreciation for this industry that just won’t quit.

Meet Liba Spirits

Liba is a diminutive of a word that means “love” or “beloved,” and that is exactly how we would describe our feelings for what we do. Before founding this company, Colton and I had worked in the distilled spirits industry for many years—he was the head distiller for Corsair Distillery in Tennessee. I was writing for a magazine and working as a brand ambassador. We both understood that spirits are only as good as the raw materials used to make them, and we wanted to access the very best that the world has to offer.
