What are we drinking?

Brad gives us the history and recipe to the a Hurricane and Jules comes up with a wild creation that needs a name. This episode we are focusing on the Hurricane as it is a New Orlenas staple and Mardi Gras is right around the corner! If you ever needed an excuse to make a Hurricane, this is it.

Uncle Brad’s Recipe

What do I need?

  • Light Rum - Plantation 3 Starr

  • Dark Rum -  

  • Passion Fruit - if you want to make your own passion fruit juice

  • Passion Fruit Juice if you don’t

  • …or you can just buy fassionola syrup

  • Lemons

  • Limes 

  • Orange

  • Cherries

  • 20 oz hurricane glass

  • Shaker

  • Hawthorn strainer

  • Ice

How do I make it?

Hurricane with Fassionola:

In your shaker add:

  • 2 oz Dark (aged) rum

  • 2 oz Light rum

  • 2 oz Fassionola syrup

  • 1 oz lemon 

  • 1 oz lime

  • Ice

Hurricane without Fassionola

In your shaker add:

  • 2 oz Dark (aged) rum

  • 2 oz Light rum

  • 2oz Passion fruit juice

  • 1oz Orange juice

  • .5oz Grenadine

  • .5oz Simple syrup

  • .5oz Lime juice

SHAKE IT for 20 - 30 seconds

Strain into 20 oz. Hurricane glass with ice

Garnish with orange and cherry taco

What do I need?

  • White rum

  • Dark Rum

  • Passion fruit puree, can be found at the store try to find the organic kind not in the fridge section or make your own

  • Oranges

  • Limes

  • Grenadine, i have a recipe on my website!

  • Green chartreuse 

  • Coconut milk

  • Jigger

  • Tin on tin shaker

  • Fine mesh and hawthorne strainer

  • Hurricane glass or wine glass

How do I make it?

In your shaker add:

  • 1.5 oz White Rum

  • 1.5 oz Dark Rum

  • 1 oz orange juice

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • 3/4 oz passion fruit puree (i used a jalapeno puree we made last year and OMG)

  • ½ oz grenadine

  • ½ oz Green Chartreuse

  • 1 oz Coconut Milk

Double strain into a hurricane or wine glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a lime wheel and/or cherry!
