What are we drinking?

One of the best stories in the history of alcohol has to be the history of Chartreuse. In this episode, we deep dive into it’s history and highlight one of the most popular drinks featuring this ancient green elixir of long life, the last word. Jules gives the last word aa zhuzh with her favorite spirit, mezcal (and an egg white).

Brad’s Classic Last Word Recipe

What do I need?

  • Tin-on-tin Shaker

  • Hawthorne strainer + fine mesh

  • Chilled Coupe Glass

  • Green Chartreuse

  • London Style Gin

  • Maraschino Liqueur

  • Limes

  • Luxardo Cherry

How do I make it?

  • .75oz green chartreuse 

  • .75oz london dry style gin

  • .75oz maraschino liqueur 

  • .75oz fresh lime juice

  • Shake for 20-30 seconds

  • Double strain into chilled coupe glass

  • Garnish with Luxardo cherry (or two, you deserve it)

Jules’ Oaxacan Last Word Recipe

What do I need?

  • Tin-on-tin Shaker

  • Hawthorne strainer + fine mesh

  • Chilled Double Rocks Glass

  • Green Chartreuse

  • Mezcal

  • Maraschino Liqueur

  • Egg white

  • Soda Water

  • Limes

  • Luxardo Cherry

How do I make it?

  • Add to a cocktail shaker:

  • 1 oz mezcal

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • 1 oz maraschino

  • 1 oz green chartreuse

  • 1 egg white

  • Dry shake for 30 seconds

  • Shake again with ice for another 20 seconds

  • Double strain into chilled double rocks glass

  • Top with soda water

  • Garnish with a cherry on top!
