Traveling to Austin, Texas?

Austin is one of my favorite places to visit. The people, the atmosphere, and of course the cocktails. There’s plenty to explore here and it’s not done yet.

Here’s a quick 3 day weekend itinerary from my last trip to Austin. Short but sweet and always leaving me wanting more! I’ll also list all the recommendations that I received that I wasn’t able to check out for myself.

Fair warning: lots of cocktails were consumed therefore this is more of a cocktail itinerary!

Day 1

  • Our first stop Peche

    • Peche is distinctly Austin's first absinthe bar with French fare. Not only that, when we walked In they had the best happy hour from 5pm-7pm

    • We had two rounds of cocktails here, one on happy hour and then others from their cocktail menu. (yes, I did get an absinthe cocktail). Overall, great cocktails and an amazing vintage cocktail bar scene. Check out their cocktail menu

  • After Peche, we found ourselves at the famous Roosevelt Room.

    • If you’re looking for cocktails that are ALL about presentation, this is it.

    • Not only is their presentation fantastic, they practically have a cocktail book for you to choose your cocktails. Check out their cocktail menu

    • Tip to make a reservation as it does get busy!

  • After forgetting about dinner, we stumbled into Irene’s for a bite as we were starving.

    • Irene’s is an American restaurant with Texas soul. We didn’t choose one bad thing on the menu.

    • Not only does Irene’s have great food but even better cocktails! Check out their menu

  • Next, we had to go to Whisler’s, which supposedly is a Mezcal bar, and therefore I had to find out for myself.

    • Whisler’s is one of those places you don’t forget. It’s a big space with multiple bars and gets a little crowded on the weekends. Even for a Thursday night, it was popular! (This for me, is normally a good sign).

    • Whisler’s ambiance is just perfect, it’s a rustic-chic watering hole with craft cocktails & a patio that apparently has frequent live music shows. Check out their cocktail menu

    • Now for the Mezcal bar… well here’s the thing, it’s hidden. But, if you go upstairs you’ll find It. It’s here you won’t find mezcal cocktails but rather a wide variety of craft mezcals where you can sample and taste. If you’re a mezcal lover, this is a must-stop. You can learn more here

  • PSA: Each evening consisted of a nightly nightcap at one of our all-time favorites, which should be yours too, Nickel City. Trust me on this one. Check out their cocktail menu

Day 2:

  • Spent the morning @ Jo’s Coffee & walked around the shops. it’s here you’ll find the I love you mural, the famous Allen’s Boots store, and of course, amazing vintage shops.

  • There’s a couple of options for breakfast in South Congress

    • Fresas: Known for its amazing grab-and-go tacos but also has some of the best sides in town. Not only that, happy hour on the patio is a must.

    • Cafe no se: Also in south congress, this place is such a great brunch spot and has really aesthetic cocktails to sip alongside your brunch.

  • Lunch @ La Barbecue: If you’re not looking to wait in the longest line of your life for BBQ at Franklin Barbecue, then La Barbecue is a MUST. I’ve come back here again and again and it has never once disappointed me. One of the best authentic bbq in Austin!

  • Looking for a liquor store? Check out Zeke’s Liquor!

  • Downtown night for dinner & drinks!

    • Let’s start with drinks. Our first stop was a rooftop bar called Gin Bar. This sits on top of the ARRIVE Austin Hotel and is a great stop for an afternoon cocktail.

    • SPEAKEASY. Head down to the speakeasy Buck Wild for one of the best experiences in Austin. What once used to be a brothel is now a small speakeasy that is hard to miss. I’ll let you try to figure out how to get in! Let me know if you find it!

  • Looking for a fun place for drinks? If you’re looking for a fun, young crowd then Unbarlievable Is a great place to start and lots of other places to stumble upon around it.

Day 3:

  • Start with a coffee at Flat Track Coffee

  • Uber to Green Belt/sculpture falls for a fun morning/afternoon to spend a couple of hours here to hike, swim, and just take in nature.

  • Looking for a bangin’ brunch? You won’t want to miss brunch at Banger’s. With live music, huge pitchers of mimosas, and a hearty meal. This is a perfect place for bottomless mimosas, texas style.

  • Bar hopping on Rainey street? No problem. Make sure to check out some of our favorites: Little Brother, Half Step, Container Bar, and The Tipsy Alchemist, Bungalow, and Javelina.

  • If you’re not bar hopping on a saturday don’t worry. Grab a jump bike or scoot and ride around the state capital, Lake Austin, and downtown.

  • Looking for lunch? Try torchy’s tacos in downtown
