You’ve asked, let me help & answer the burning question…
How do I make a classic simple syrup?
Let’s get into it.
Don’t forget… Equal parts sugar and water on medium heat until sugar dissolves. Let cool & store for up to 4 weeks in the fridge.
It’s that easy. Now, there are other versions of simple syrup.
You can have:
Rich syrup: 2:1 sugar to water ratio
Demerara syrup: Use demerara syrup rather than white granulated sugar
Honey syrup: Use honey instead of white granulated sugar
Flavored simple syrups: Usually this is the same as simple syrup but adds a flavor component to the mix.
Now, I always recommend making homemade simple syrup but there are some exceptions where it may be easier to purchase them. These syrups are: Agave syrup, Orgeat Syrup, Gomme syrup
