What are we drinking this week?

As home bartenders, we need to be prepared to serve guests who don’t drink alcohol. In this episode, Jules takes Brad to school on Mocktailing and the wide world of spirit free beverages and alternatives. She even leads us in a short story on the history of the mocktail.

How do I make it Uncle Brad?

Brad, what do we need?

  • Chilled lowball glass

  • strainer; hawthorn & fine mesh

  • Mixing glass

  • Muddler

  • Limes

  • Pineapple, or pineapple juice

  • jalapenos

  • cilantro

  • mint leaves

  • Ice

  • Jalapeno and cilantro and mint, for garnish

Brad, how do I make it?

  • 1oz fresh lime

  • 1oz pineapple juice

  • ½ raw agave syrup

  • Jalapeno 1-2 thin slice

  • Cilantro 1-2 sprigs

  • Mint 2-3 leaves

  • Muddle

  • Strain with hawthorn strainer and pour over large cube in chilled lowball glass.  

  • Garnish with thin slice of jalapeno, cilantro sprig, and mint sprig on top of cube

Jules, what do we need?

  • Chilled coupe glass

  • Cocktail shaker

  • Jigger

  • Strainer; Hawthorne and fine mesh

  • ice

  • basil syrup

  • cantaloupe, or cantaloupe juice

  • limes

  • sea salt

  • Bail leaf, for garnish

Jule’s Morning Martini Version

  • In a cocktail shaker add

  • 1/2 oz Basil syrup

  • 4 oz cantaloupe juice

  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice

  • Sea salt

  • Add ice and shake.

  • Strain into a chilled coupe glass!

Shirley temple recipe:

  • Fill glass with ice

  • ¾ can of ginger ale (sprite/7-up)

  • 1 oz of grenadine 

  • 2 oz vodka
