Welcome to episode 35 of The Art of Drinking with Join Jules and Your Favorite Uncle
What are we drinking this week?
The Old Fashioned could have its own season because there are 100’s of ways to make them. In this episode we make use of your Cherry Heering from the Singapore Sling episode and use it for a Cherry Old Fashioned. Jules blows Uncle Brad away with her Freezer Door Old Fashioned. Stick around for the history of Angostura Bitters.

Jule’s Freezer Door Old Fashioned
In a 750ml bottle of bourbon, pour out 6 oz (looks like you’ll need to make an old fashioned or two while you make this)
Add into the bottle:
2 oz demerara syrup
3/4 oz Luxardo cherry syrup
3/4 oz angostura
1/2 oz orange bitters
1 Orange peel, optional
Optional 2 oz water
Optional: 1 oz filtered water for dilution
Put the cap on, flipping upside down a few times to combine.
Place in the freezer to chill and serve over a fresh cube, about 3-4 oz
What’s our tip?
Tip: Making an Old Fashioned, not the old fashioned way
Combinations:
Mezcal + Agave + Mole Bitters
Bourbon + Banana syrup + Chocolate bitters
