Ingredients
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5-6 fresh sage leaves
  • 2 strips orange peel
  • Vanilla or almond extract, optional
Instructions
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the pomegranate juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks, sage leaves, and orange peel.
  • Stir occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Reduce the heat to low and gently simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  • Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean, airtight jar or bottle, discarding the solids.
  • If desired, stir in a few drops of vanilla or almond extract for an additional layer of flavor.
  • Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Note: Feel free to make this syrup your own! Swap the cinnamon for warming spices like star anise, cloves, or cardamom, and replace the sage with fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for a different flavor profile.
